  • Vísir reports that Kleifarvatn has a disproportionately large number of dead fish in its depths spotted by divers. Kleifarvatn is in the Krysuvík volcanic region, which was impacted by the large earthquake in 2001 and which has undergone notable inflation and deflation over the past couple of years. The lake itself has been the site of varied hydrothermal activity, which may be attributing to the quantity of dead fish. No studies have yet been conducted.
